2 years ago this week, I quit my job in the NFL. 2 years ago this week, I quit my job in the NFL.

I had just been dumped. I had no idea what I was doing with my life or what was next. I didn’t know I was days away from losing a loved one and going through what would be a disastrous moving process from Detroit to Charlotte.

But I took this picture that day because I wanted to commemorate how strong I felt in that moment.

Don’t get me wrong, it was an amazing job I had the privilege of doing for 7 years. I almost cried on the Zoom call putting in my 2 weeks. I just knew in my heart it was time for a change.

I went to Home Goods for fun that afternoon and took myself out to dinner alone that night. I felt completely lost yet at the same time completely assured I’d done the right thing. It was like the adrenaline rush of jumping out of a plane but not being sure where the parachute is gonna come from 😬

The 3rd frame is what I posted on my stories that day and looking at it again now is such a warm reminder that I felt strong and courageous that day, and the Lord HAS been with me every step since.
I look back at these photos and that scripture and remember how much strength & courage it took to make that pivot. And how faithful the Lord has been: how I *thrived* in Charlotte, how I now have an amazing husband (!!) and a life I love (and another cat) and get to live near the mountains.

None of that would’ve happened without the courage of that day.

I often feel awkward about this social media space because so many of you follow me from that old job. I sometimes feel silly posting about anything else because my life took another direction from what this audience would have expected of me 2 years ago.

But so many of you have hung around the last 2 years and it doesn’t go unnoticed 🫶🏼 Thanks for sticking with me while I’ve figured life out and written new chapters.

I hope one day if you feel like you need to have your leap of faith moment, you can feel reassured that you knew at least one person who tried it and things turned out alright 🥰
